MESSAGE FROM THE PANGULO This year’s election of officers for the Batangas Mountain Bikers was quite dramatic indeed. Whenever I think about it images of a killer race appear on my mind, when a rider gives every last bit of power he has for the final sprint to glory. With the same rush of adrenalin, I can say that it’s going to be an exciting year for mountain biking in Batangas City. Once again our friends have given me an opportunity to head the organization – and I won’t let them down. I was thinking of that time when I lead the group’s a trail ride and got lost in the woods. Everyone was getting furious at me then, but we eventually found our way back. What was a potentially disastrous event turned out to be one of our best bonding moments. With this, I’m thinking of doing more adventure rides. On this occasion I’d like to acknowledge our City Government, who is always there to support our activities and projects. There wasn’t a single moment when they turned down our sports events. They are so dependable that our only grievance was when they paved and cemented the dirt roads to bring progress to the barrios. (Of course we understand why they had to do this.) As we talk now of events, our Race Against the Clock for this year will be held off road once again with eight regular scheduled races starting September 2005 to April 2006. Companies interested in sponsoring the event are welcome. I believe that through efforts such as this, the Batangas Mountain Bikers can contribute to the development of our future cyclists and a better community. |
